Warning after reports of possible rogue trader falsely claiming of partnership with council in jaywick sands

Jaywick Sands residents are being advised of reports of a door to door trader falsely claiming to represent a company working with Tendring District Council (TDC).

TDC has been made aware that an individual has been offering people cash incentives to allow them to carry out a survey on their home. In addition they have reportedly told people the company they are trying to get leads for is partnered with TDC.

TDC does support a similar scheme in Jaywick Sands, run by Warmer Homes under the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) initiative, for people to make improvements to their homes to make them more energy efficient.

Paul Honeywood, TDC Cabinet Member with special responsibility for Jaywick Sands, urged residents to be clear about what they were signing up for.

“The company being touted by this individual appears to be a genuine firm and people can choose to go with them if they wish, though it would seem this person trying to drum up sales is a freelance building up their own leads,” Cllr Honeywood said. “However, we want to be clear that we are not working with them on any initiatives – and instead work with Warmer Homes.”

For more information about Warmer Homes Jaywick Sands scheme people can call 01255 879448, or the TDC leader officer for the initiative on 01255 686785.

Ed Garratt appointed to CCGs and Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care System

Ed Garratt has been appointed as the Accountable Officer for the three Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) across Suffolk and north east Essex and as Executive Lead for the Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care System (ICS).

His appointment by NHS England and NHS Improvement as the Executive Lead for the ICS will see him take over the role from Nick Hulme, the Chief Executive of East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, working alongside an ICS Independent Chair also to be appointed later this month.

Suffolk and North East Essex is one of the first Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships (STPs) to be designated as an ICS. In an ICS, local NHS organisations such as CCGs, hospital, mental health and ambulance trusts and GP surgeries work in partnership with local councils and voluntary organisations to take collective responsibility for improving the health outcomes of their local populations.

Responding to news of his appointment, Dr Garratt said: “I am delighted and honoured to have been given the role of Executive Lead for our local ICS and to continue my leadership of all three CCGs. There is already an excellent relationship between the CCGs but this provides greater consistency of approach and will also enable the best use of our resources. I would like to pay tribute to the outstanding leadership that Nick Hulme has given to the STP and I am looking forward to continuing to work with partners to deliver improved outcomes for our population.”

Dr Hasan Chowhan, Chair of the NHS North East Essex CCG, said: “I’m delighted to see Ed appointed as Accountable Officer for NEECCG. During his interim period in the role, he has demonstrated the value that we can gain as an organisation by sharing a single AO with Ipswich and East CCG and West Suffolk CCG.

“With Ed leading NEECCG, we are continuing to work in a more cohesive way with our colleagues, partners and stakeholders in order to best meet the needs of our local population and improve health outcomes.”

Dr Mark Shenton, Chair of the NHS Ipswich & East Suffolk CCG, said: “It’s great to see Ed appointed to this role. It will help each of our CCGs understand better what we need to do to make the best decisions for our population and for our area. Ed has all the right skills to build co-operation and great relationships, not only across the CCGs but also across all our partners and stakeholders.  This will ensure we build on the successes we have had to date and the great reputation we have as a consequence.”

Dr Christopher Browning, Chair of the NHS West Suffolk CCG, added: “Ed has devoted much of his time in his various roles to date developing the system as we see it now. It is therefore very rewarding to see him placed properly at the helm. I have every confidence that patients and staff alike will benefit from his leadership and direction.”
