Get Up To Date With The Real Dangers Posed To Children

Parents are being reminded about an event to help them learn about the apps your children are using?

Tendring Community Safety Partnership (TCSP) is putting on three special information sessions to help parents, guardians and carers get up to date with the Dark Web and internet safety.

They are being staged at Clacton’s Princes Theatre on March 1, 8 and 15 and are free to attend.

The sessions are aimed at those with children in Years 6, 7, 8 and 9 across the Tendring District.

Lynda McWilliams, Chairman of TCSP and Tendring District Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Education, said the event will make people think again about the threat posed to children.

“When you think about Stranger Danger, you are probably thinking of a white van outside a school or a man with a dog that has just had puppies,” she added

“Well these sessions will take that message and turn it completely on its head.

“Unlike similar events, the presentation will not be covering issues like password security or blocking software.

“The aim is to bring parents totally up to date regarding the apps their children are using and how they are being directly targeted in that environment by paedophiles.”

Cllr McWilliams said that facts and figures that are used at the sessions will be coming direct from children in Essex who have been spoken to within a week of the event and are sure to shock everyone that attends.

“I hope as many parents as possible will take the opportunity to turn up to one of these three events and find out more about the real dangers children face today.”
